Virtus Contracts were engaged by BCS, The Chartered Institute of IT to carry out a CAT B fit- out of their new London office and event space within a live occupied building. This space has flexible areas which can function as open plan for larger events and cellular meeting rooms for smaller individual workshops.

Working to a tight programme, we were able to provide a standout space in which many ould love to work. The project was finished on time and within budget. There were a few logistical issues with getting materials in and out of the building along with noisy works restrictions but the site team and Sub-Contractors were able to overcome these using their years of knowledge and experience of working within the London fit-out market.

The project incorporated new Mechanical and Electrical services, moving walls, Internal glazed partitioning and a bespoke feature wall. The standout feature of the project had to be the bespoke feature wall running along the main corridor. This feature utilised a hardwood carcass fixed back to the wall and clad using a black American oak veneer. LED lighting troughs were pre-cut through the veneer with the LED lighting added on site to produce a standout lighting concept. A number of AV screens were then added to the wall allowing continuous visual imagery to be shown along the screens. The History wall as it is now known, brings the space to life in a way normal decoration or cladding could not do.

All in all, the project was a delight to be involved with and showed that when a Client, Design Team and Contractor work together, opportunities are endless and the finished spaces are left being loved by all.
