What is a Category A Fit Out?

A Category A fit out (also referred to as Cat A), refers to a basic office fit out during refurbishment. If you imagine the entire building like an empty shell, the Category A fit out is the addition of all the vital construction the building needs, that won’t add in style or aesthetic, as this falls under a Category B fitout.
Most aspects of a Cat A fitout are things that exist in the background of a building and are out of the public view, such as:

Adding electrics like lighting, air conditioning, and ventilation systems which would be out of sight.

Plumbing areas such as toilets, sinks, or showers (creating the shell space for these areas).

Creating a space for later lift installation.

Setting up fire facilities to comply with health and safety and building regulations.
