Ultimately, the refurbishment of Levels 4 and 7 concluded the comprehensive upgrade of 62–64 Cornhill. The building was transformed into a modern and efficient workplace environment.

The refurbishment of 62–64 Cornhill formed part of a long-term programme to modernise the building and enhance its commercial appeal. As the final phase of the wider office refurbishment, the project transformed Levels 4 and 7 into contemporary workplaces designed to meet the needs of modern occupiers.

Design Development and Workplace Strategy

Working from an initial furniture layout, our team developed the concept into a fully coordinated office design. While each floor shares a consistent design language, subtle variations in finishes, colour palettes, and furniture selections create a distinct identity on each level.

Consequently, the building benefits from a cohesive aesthetic while offering flexibility for future tenants. Furthermore, these carefully considered design differences add character without compromising consistency across the wider refurbishment programme.

Creating Flexible Workplace Environments

To support agile working, we introduced generous breakout areas and high-quality tea points on both floors. In addition, carefully selected finishes elevate the workplace experience and create a welcoming environment for occupiers and visitors alike.

Throughout the design process, we refined the material palette and furniture selections to balance individuality with continuity. Meanwhile, we enhanced the lighting design to improve spatial clarity and emphasise the contemporary character of each office floor. As a result, the completed spaces encourage collaboration, wellbeing, and productivity.

Delivering a Refurbishment in an Occupied Building

Delivering the office refurbishment within a live building presented several challenges. As neighbouring floors remained fully occupied, our team carefully planned each phase of the works to minimise disruption.

Therefore, we implemented robust noise management procedures and maintained close communication with building stakeholders throughout the programme. At the same time, we enforced rigorous health and safety standards to protect occupants and ensure the building remained fully operational.

Furthermore, regular site inspections and proactive project management enabled us to maintain programme momentum and achieve key milestones. Consequently, we completed the works on schedule while preserving a positive experience for existing tenants.

Outcome

As a result, we delivered a seamless handover and prepared the refurbished floors for immediate occupation. The completed office refurbishment provides high-quality workspace in the heart of the City of London, combining functionality, flexibility, and contemporary design.
