Following the successful delivery of our first project for the East India Club, Virtus completed a second consecutive refurbishment programme at the prestigious private members’ club in St James’s Square, London. The project involved the refurbishment of 15 guest bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms, enhancing the accommodation while preserving the character and heritage of the club.

Refurbishing Guest Accommodation

The works took place over two phases across a 15-week programme. Initially, our team stripped out all existing finishes and building services before upgrading the bedrooms and bathrooms to modern hospitality standards.

In addition, we installed new sanitaryware and bathroom finishes throughout the en-suite facilities. Within the bedrooms, we introduced new wall linings, broadloom carpeting, upgraded electrical services, and replacement fire compartmentation doors. As a result, the refurbished rooms offer enhanced comfort, safety, and functionality while maintaining the club’s established character.

Delivering Works in a Live Environment

A key challenge involved carrying out the refurbishment while the club continued operating at full occupancy. Consequently, the project team carefully planned each phase of the works to minimise disruption to members and guests.

Furthermore, the club required immediate availability of the refurbished rooms for letting upon completion. Therefore, maintaining programme certainty remained a critical priority throughout the project.

Collaborative Project Delivery

To ensure a successful outcome, we maintained regular communication with the club’s facilities and management teams. Through proactive coordination and collaborative planning, we aligned our construction activities with the club’s operational requirements.

As a result, we completed the refurbishment programme on time and to the high standards expected by the client. The upgraded guest accommodation now provides a refined and welcoming experience while supporting the continued operation of one of London’s most prestigious private members’ clubs.
