Virtus Contracts delivered a training centre refurbishment at the East Midlands Training Centre saw Virtus Contracts upgrade facilities across two operational buildings. Working with Marchini Curran Architects, we modernised offices, classrooms and briefing rooms on behalf of an international airline.

The project focused on modernising staff offices, classrooms and briefing rooms. Our team reconfigured these areas and introduced new finishes throughout. In addition, we upgraded the mechanical and electrical services to support the refurbished spaces.

East Midlands Training Centre Refurbishment

Careful phasing played a crucial role throughout the project. Both buildings remained operational while our team progressed the works. Therefore, we planned each stage around the training centre’s ongoing activities.

The flight simulator bays presented a particular challenge because they operated 24 hours a day. As a result, our team carefully coordinated activities around these areas to support the continued operation of the facility.

Office, Classroom and Briefing Room Upgrades

The training centre refurbishment created improved environments for both employees and training activities. Our scope included the reconfiguration of existing offices alongside upgrades to classrooms and briefing rooms.

Furthermore, we coordinated the new finishes with the updated MEP services. This approach allowed the different elements of the refurbishment to work together while creating a consistent appearance across both buildings.

Training Centre Refurbishment in a Live Environment

Working within an active training facility required careful planning and coordination. Consequently, our team developed a phased approach that responded to the operational requirements of the buildings.

Communication also played an important role throughout the project. By carefully coordinating the refurbishment works, our team could progress the programme alongside the centre’s ongoing training activities.

Delivering an Operational Training Facility

Ultimately, the completed project transformed key areas of the East Midlands Training Centre into modern and functional working environments. New finishes and upgraded building services complemented the reconfigured offices, classrooms and briefing rooms.

The project demonstrates Virtus Contracts’ ability to deliver complex refurbishment works within an operational environment. Moreover, careful phasing allowed the facility to remain active while our team completed improvements across both buildings.
