Our medical office conversion transformed former consultation rooms on the first floor of an eye hospital into a contemporary workplace. Virtus created new offices, meeting rooms and a boardroom, alongside a reception, breakout area and tea point.

Importantly, the hospital remained operational throughout the works. Therefore, our team carefully planned the strip-out to minimise disruption to activities on the floors above and below.

Medical Office Conversion and Strip-Out Works

The project began with the isolation and strip-out of the existing medical consultation rooms. During this phase, our team removed redundant medical gases and patient alarm systems. Careful coordination allowed hospital operations to continue around the project area.

Following the initial strip-out, the design developed to reflect the conditions uncovered on site. As a result, our team could coordinate the new workplace effectively within the existing building.

Building Services and Acoustic Upgrades

Once we removed the existing ceilings, we rationalised the building services to support the new design. This approach allowed us to create an open-void ceiling that gives the workplace a contemporary appearance.

In addition, we introduced acoustic baffles throughout the space. These enhance sound absorption while complementing the exposed ceiling and building services.

Bespoke Office Finishes

Considered detailing played an important role in the medical office conversion. In particular, we carefully aligned the boardroom and reception walls to create a strong visual impact on arrival.

Meanwhile, exposed brickwork introduces character and texture throughout the workplace. Slatted oak wall panelling adds warmth and creates a consistent visual language across the floor.

Together, these finishes help bring the different areas of the office together. They also create a clear contrast between the contemporary workplace and its former clinical use.

Delivering a Contemporary Workplace

Throughout the project, careful planning remained essential. Our team coordinated the works around the operational requirements of the hospital while transforming the first-floor accommodation.

Ultimately, the completed conversion provides a contemporary office environment with dedicated meeting, boardroom and breakout facilities. The combination of exposed services, acoustic treatments and bespoke finishes creates a distinctive workplace with a cohesive design.
