Virtus were instructed to carry out the CAT A refurbishment of the office space and lobby on the fifth floor and WC’s refurbishment on the fifth and sixth floor at 11 Old Jewry, London.

This office refurbishment with exposed services and modern WC upgrades transformed a long-vacant workspace into a bright, contemporary working environment. After remaining unoccupied for several years, the fifth floor required extensive refurbishment to bring it back to life and create an attractive space for future occupiers.

Office Refurbishment with Exposed Services

The architect’s vision centred on creating an open and welcoming workplace with a clean, modern aesthetic. To achieve this, the design introduced light wall finishes, contrasting grey ceilings and feature columns throughout the floorplate.

In addition, the team carefully coordinated and exposed the building services to create an industrial-inspired appearance. Rather than concealing key services, they arranged them neatly throughout the office, adding visual interest while maintaining a high-quality finish. As a result, the completed workspace feels bright, spacious and contemporary.

Modern WC Upgrades and Shower Facilities

As part of the office refurbishment with exposed services and modern WC upgrades, the existing washroom facilities underwent a complete transformation. The team installed new shower facilities on both floors to improve functionality and support modern workplace requirements.

Furthermore, they introduced stylish black sanitaryware that complemented the design language used throughout the office. Consequently, the upgraded facilities provided a consistent aesthetic while significantly enhancing the user experience for building occupants.

Delivering a Successful Refurbishment

Through careful planning, strong collaboration and attention to detail, the project successfully transformed a previously neglected floor into a high-quality workplace environment. Moreover, the combination of exposed services, modern finishes and upgraded amenities created a space that balances practicality with contemporary design.

The client was delighted with the outcome, and the team delivered the project on programme. As a result, the refurbishment provided a revitalised workspace that met the client’s objectives and enhanced the appeal of the building.
