The Clapham residential conversion transformed The Post House from a derelict office building into 14 high-quality apartments. The development combines one and two-bedroom homes with upgraded communal areas, new building services and a fourth-floor extension overlooking Clapham Common.

Throughout the project, Virtus focused on maximising the potential of the existing building. As a result, the development combines the conversion of the original structure with a new upward extension.

Clapham Residential Conversion

Our team converted the former office accommodation to create a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments. Each home features a new kitchen and bathroom alongside new mechanical and electrical services.

In addition, we carefully coordinated the internal finishes and building services to create modern residential accommodation throughout the property.

Clapham Residential Conversion and Upward Extension

A key element of the Clapham residential conversion involved extending the existing building upwards. This created two additional luxury two-bedroom apartments with views towards Clapham Common.

Furthermore, our team installed a new passenger lift serving every floor. We also extended the existing staircase to provide access to the new fourth-floor accommodation.

Refurbished Common Areas and Building Services

Alongside the apartment works, Virtus refurbished the communal areas throughout The Post House. We introduced new lighting and small power installations together with refreshed decorative finishes.

These improvements created a consistent environment throughout the shared spaces. Moreover, the upgraded circulation areas complement the newly created apartments and fourth-floor extension.

Life Safety Systems and Accessibility

Life safety formed another important part of the project. Therefore, our team installed new systems throughout the building to support the completed residential accommodation.

The works included a new fire alarm system, emergency lighting and smoke extraction. Together, these systems formed part of the wider upgrade of the former commercial property.

Completing The Post House Residential Conversion

The project transformed a derelict office building into a modern residential development. The completed scheme provides 14 high-quality apartments alongside enhanced communal spaces and upgraded building services.

The Clapham residential conversion also demonstrates how an existing commercial building can gain a new purpose through considered refurbishment and extension. The result combines new homes, improved accessibility and modern building infrastructure within the transformed property.
