The Macquarie office and catering facilities refurbishment provided a more effective and productive workplace solution capable of supporting increased staff numbers. Virtus delivered a comprehensive programme of refurbishment works that upgraded catering facilities, enhanced welfare amenities and reconfigured office space to improve the employee experience.
Catering Facilities Refurbishment
As part of the Macquarie office and catering facilities refurbishment, the team modernised the existing pantry, café servery and kitchen areas to improve service levels and operational efficiency. They removed outdated facilities and created new preparation areas, upgraded servery counters and altered building services to support the new layout.
In addition, the project included the installation of a new walk-in refrigeration room and the creation of a dedicated storeroom within the kitchen. Because the catering facilities remained operational throughout the project, Virtus carefully planned and delivered all works outside normal working hours. Consequently, the client maintained uninterrupted service while benefiting from significantly improved facilities.
New Unisex Welfare Facilities
The project also increased the number of WC facilities by converting existing office space into modern unisex superloos. The new facilities featured an innovative occupancy management system that improved user experience and maximised availability.
Furthermore, the works included new floor finishes, bespoke cubicles, sanitary ware, ceilings, partitioning and upgraded fixtures and fittings. Virtus also installed new ventilation, extract systems, public health services, lighting and life safety systems. As a result, the client gained high-quality welfare facilities that support a growing workforce.
Office Reconfiguration and Fit-Out
The Macquarie office and catering facilities refurbishment also involved the reconfiguration of 1,316 sq m (14,200 sq ft) of office accommodation. First, the team isolated existing services and removed redundant fixtures and fittings. They then installed a bespoke tea point with associated services and finishes to improve staff amenities.
In addition, Virtus relocated floor power connections and installed new grommets to support workplace flexibility. The team also provided power and containment for new AV systems, replaced meeting room carpets and installed acoustic treatments above ceilings to improve performance.
To complete the refurbishment, they decorated walls and bulkheads, fitted acoustic fabric panels, installed a new storage wall and manufactured bespoke perch rails for stand-up meeting spaces. Through careful planning and collaboration, the project delivered a modern, flexible and highly functional workplace environment.
